scroll downs act funky in explorer

For some reason firefox seems to handle the site very well but explorer distorts picture sizes and messes up the scroll down (the scroll down stays visible even when not hovering over it).

whats going on... (also, any other general suggestions of how to code the site so that it is handled well by all browsers...)

Works exactly the same for me in IE7 and in Firefox 3. Please visit the web service http://browsershots.org. Consider installing developer extensions for Firefox like Firebug, Web Dev Toolbar and so on. Also, you can post links in this forum by surrounding the hyperlink with square brackets: [link goes here].
