How to sort main file gallery topics by name

Posted:18 May 2009 (14:46 UTC)
Hi,

how can I sort the main file gallery by name?
I do not want it to be sorted by "last modified"!

Bye
M.J.

Edit: I just have added a new "main" gallery and I put all
the others below it. Now when I try to change the order and
I press "Save changes" nothing happens and I just get a white
page. Changes have not been saved!
Has anyone an idea how to fix this?

The main list of file galleries (treasury) does not have a sort function, but within a gallery ( or any content list ) you just click on the 'Name' column header to order by name.

I prefer to use fisheye (image gallery by default ) since it does have an ordering function at the top level, and a number of different ordering and display options within a gallery.

I am afraid the Image Gallery does not look like I want it to.
The File Gallery would be perfect if I could just "Edit Gallery Hierarchy". As I have already mentioned, it does not save any changes I make.

I would like to have a menue structure like this.

Main Gallery: Templates

1. General (Sub-Gallery of Templates)
(some files)
1.1 Sub-Gallery of General
(more files)
2. Organisation (Sub-Gallery of Templates)
3. Human Resource

5. Test1
4. Test2

It is not possible for me to change the positions of 4. and 5. :-(

Is the "Edit Gallery Hierarchy" working for all of you?

Not sure what you are talking about on 'edit gallery hierarchy'. The structure is defined by which galleries are inside which other ones, and the order they appear is defined for each galley.

medw.co.uk/fisheye/ - Main Gallery which will take you to medw.co.uk/fisheye/view.php?gallery_id=1 - Product Directory for instance. And the order of Product Directory can be changed via the order edit.
( Can't add links in comments ;) )

But the menu on the top for 'Information Directory' is programmed manually rather than from the gallery order. And since I want images and files in the same place I just use fisheye.

Maybe this makes it a little bit clearer.

I just have checked out the fisheye functionality. I have the feeling,
that I can not realize the view I would like to have in fisheye but in treasury.

BTW, thank you for your time and your help (again)!

Forget about how things look in the admin tools - what do you want to achieve on the site?

Users will not see the 'structure' you are editing here, they will only see the actual galleries. But if you WANT a tree structure display, then it could be added as another gallery display plugin in fisheye.
