{quote format_guid="bbcode" comment_id="7363" user="arnaudherve"}I would like to start discussing the possibility of integrating an existing Web Directory or Links Directory system into Bitweaver. Personnally I am not convinced that it is an essential feature in a portal, especially a wiki oriented portal, because most often the necessary links will be included in the relevant pages. And as far as weblogs and smaller systems are concerned, usually a module with just a few links is more elegant than whole pages. However it can happen that webmasters will want that feature, or even want only that feature. I think for example of a literary review for texts online, a topical group setting up a website in the sole purpose of listing potential partners abroad.... Well any site where the purpose is not to produce but to know what the others produce. In such cases a permission allowin Anonymous to submit new links will often be used, and also in a case where visitors are invited to make their production known to the public. It can also happen that for a definite Category or Wiki Book, a dedicated module with relevant links will come handy. Also in certain cases a form allowing the user to add a series of links like a bibliography will be useful (with css format putting the comments in italics and stuff like that). Or the editor of a page might add a dependent page in the wiki structure, named "Further links about this topic", and state that Registered will only be allowed to add links in this subsidiary links page. So I started looking for such directory dedicated systems on the web, and as usual in the php world you find tens of proposed systems which are half finished. Any ideas or existing systems suggestions?{/quote}
