{quote format_guid="bbcode" comment_id="7924" user="Anssi"}For some reason the downloading of the Finnish language didn't work quite as it should (part of the strings to be translated were in arabic, part already in finnish, or from some other sentence, and finnish translation of that. Anyway, I have been making some slight improvements to official Finnish version in order to make it a) accurate b) written in good grammar c) get the point across on some things d) to work in the context I hope Hartsa doesn't get offended, since I'm patching his work. I intend to sell installations (websites) of Bitweaver to my customers, and it is essential I have a good translation before I start doing that. It would be a good idea for the translation core to have a basic terminology set first. So that the translator has to determine translations for "category", "plugin", "wikipage", "Gallery" etc. Just the basic structural terminology. After that they would proceed towards the translation of individual strings using the terminology. And when some of those basic words is present in the sentence, bw would remind of the original translation of the term. It truly is confusing because we have a lot of synonymes for terms in finnish language. I think this might be the case in other languages too. So, first could be a part where each general term is explained (Category = name used for the group of wikipages that belong together either subjectwise or for some other reason) and translated. Then translation of each individual string. another cool thing would be to show the translation string in a context. Now, when doing the translation, it is needed to go and find the translation from the site after it has been made to see if it makes sense in the context. This is beacuse finnish grammar is a lot more complex than the english one. And finally, a suggestion for a feature that could be the coolest thing in CMS internationalization history. You could add icon after each text field in the user interface in admin mode. By clicking the icon the admin [i:f0bf132f45]could translate that particular string[/i:f0bf132f45]. And with translation settings from the admin interface one could select site language and language he/she is doing the translation to. And a reference language (english in most cases, the language bw is originally made). How cool would that be?{/quote}
