R2 doesn't install on Windows Server
Posted:20 Nov 2007 (09:23 UTC)Hi everyone,
after staying away from bw for a while I now wanted to install bw2 and wanted to give it another try. I am using a windows server with apache, php and mysql. The machine has an extremely fast and reliable corporate mediawiki server running, so I know that it is working.
After starting the installation and clicking on "Begin the install process" the next page never appears. The only thing that I can see goes wrong is in the error log of apache:
"tar: Cannot execute remote shell: No such file or directory
tar: C\:\\htdocs\\bitweaver/install/testfiles/test.tar: Cannot open: Input/Output error
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar (grandchild): bzip2: Cannot exec: No such file or directory
tar (grandchild): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar (child): Cannot execute remote shell: No such file or directory
tar (child): C\:\\htdocs\\bitweaver/install/testfiles/test.tar.bz2: Cannot open: Input/Output error
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
tar (child): Cannot execute remote shell: No such file or directory
tar (child): C\:\\htdocs\\bitweaver/install/testfiles/test.tar.gz: Cannot open: Input/Output error
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar (grandchild): gzip: Cannot exec: No such file or directory
tar (grandchild): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
Der Befehl "unzip" ist entweder falsch geschrieben oder
konnte nicht gefunden werden.
Der Befehl "unrar" ist entweder falsch geschrieben oder
konnte nicht gefunden werden."
Why is bitweaver trying to execute all this and why does it stop the installation? The paths also seem completely skewed.
Thanks for helping!
Best Regards
Daniel

Re: R2 doesn't install on Windows Server
Posted:17 Feb 2008 (06:18 UTC)The problem lies in windows. For example, in the error line tar: C\:\\htdocs\\bitweaver/install/testfiles/test.tar: Cannot open: Input/Output error, notice the slashes. With windows, the / is seen as an option, while in *Nix, it is the separater (between directories). You may have to modify the code yourself, though I am not sure as my server is running Linux. I hope this helps some.
