question about wiki development/3rd party integration

Posted:Sat 08 of Apr, 2006 (16:52 UTC)

Hello all,
I am considering using Bitweaver for a site, and I like what I see so far. I had a question about the wiki though. For the site I want to build, I would like a rather robust wiki, and I was wondering what the status on the wiki development was. I've poked around the forums and found a few related threads, but they aren't really detailed.

In a related matter, has anyone ever tried (or is it even possible) to integrate Mediawiki into Bitweaver? I know Mediawiki is difficult to work with from a development standpoint, but that's more along the lines of what I would like from a wiki.

Are there any other 3rd party wikis that offer some of the functionality of mediawiki that might be easier to integrate into Bitweaver?

Thanks for all the help.

-Jeff

Um, I don't know who's ICQ or WWW info is listed below, but it's NOT mine. I don't have a website or ICQ information set in my profile on this site. I don't know who's ICQ information is listed, I don't know where that website came from. I'm currently trying to delete the erroneous information. If there's and admin or mod reading this, any help would be appreciated.

*edit2*
after browsing the forums, it seems I'm not the only user with this problem. Has there been some sort of security breach or spamming incident here?

Thanks again.

we haven't tried inserting third party wikis into bitweaver. what parts of mediawiki is bitweaver lacking? is it just the wiki format or are there other things you would need to see in bitweaver before you consider using it?

the www and icq stuff has been dealt with.

actually, upon further review, I really like this wiki. The one option I don't see that MediaWiki has is the discussion tab to discuss edits and conflicts. Pretty minor i guess.

I do have one question though. Is there a limit to the size of the wiki or number of entries? will performance degrade if the wiki gets to be rather large? My plan is to create a site using bitweaver, create a handful of wiki pages with information about the site, then have users create wiki pages for terms, ideas, concepts, etc specific to my industry. I'm just wondering if people start creating thousands of pages, will bitweaver crash?
