History of refactor

The term refactoring originated in computer programming, but the concept has also been applied when modifying any text.

In wiki websites, refactoring refers to the process of rewriting and reorganizing text to shorten it while preserving content.

Refactoring similar pages to a common ((template)) or ((style guide)) is a common task which increases the readability of pages in a wiki.

Another example of refactoring would be the steps necessary to make discussions (in list serves or discussion boards) accessible to people who are interested in the content or results, rather than the history of the discussion itself.
