Custom Permissions

How do I assign custom permissions to a group? I want to give certain groups access to certain blogs/boards/etc and not others. Apparently I can do this, but it isn't obvious to me how.

Under the Administration menu is a section for the Users package, in there you will find an option for Managing Permissions. The page will have lots of checkboxes on it, and you can set which groups have which permissions.

Right i see that, but those give global access for the permission, ie write to ALL boards, or read ALL blogs, etc. I want to say, this group can read only write to blogs x y z, this other one can only view boards s t v, etc.
