anybody successfully installed 'Groups' package ?

Posted:26 Sep 2009 (15:47 UTC)
I have hard time to enable Groups package. I am following the steps given BW groups package:

1) Installed boards & switchboard package
2) WHile installing mods & Mod comments getting the erro message.

Fatal error: Call to undefined method ModerationSystem::registerModerationObserver() in /home/public_html/bw1/boards/bit_setup_inc.php on line 59

I couldn't continue further. I am using BW2.6 with beta versions of mod comments/moderations downloaded today.

I got it to work after a little trial and error with the CVS version, this was probably over a month ago though.

From memory the steps that I used were: (I logged out of bitweaver at the end of each step and logged back in after I got the files from CVS to install/setup as per instructions on the packages webpage)
installed boards and switchboard packages
installed Moderations package from CVS
installed ModComments package from CVS
installed LibertySecure package from CVS
installed Groups package

I'm actually going to be redoing the setup of this as it needs to be documentation for my work so someone else (or me) can easily install it again if needs be, I will have a crack at it either Thursday or Friday this week and I will post the steps that I took.

Hope this helps

Here are the steps that I took to get it to work.

Using a fresh install (from the CVS) with no extra packages installed:
  • install Boards
  • log out
  • install Switchbard (checkout from CVS)
  • log out
  • install LibertSecure (checkout from CVS) - do not register permissions yet
  • log out
  • install Moderation (checkout from CVS)
  • Administration->Liberty->Liberty Settings
(I'm assuming this is what needs to be enabled as what is mentioned on the ModCommentsPackage page is not listed, since the page was last update about 15 months ago I guess names have changed)
    • enable Enforce content status
    • enable Display content status menu
  • log out
  • get ModComments from CVS and then enable - does not need to be installed
  • Administration->Modcomments->Comment Moderation Settings
    • enable Allow admins to moderate comments
  • log out
  • install Groups (checkout from CVS)
  • configure Groups to your liking
  • the run LibertySecure:Register Default Permissions step goes here but read the text on the GroupsPackage page first

This was done on xampp on Windows XP.
When I checkout packages from CVS I log back in the bitweaver to install them.

Hope this helps

hmm sounds like a little snufu with pkg dependency. you shouldn't have to go through the laborious steps daniel went through, try installing the various dependencies before modcomments then install that last. i'll try to find some tome to look at what the cross up is.

groups is successfully running on a live site at map4change.org
