{quote format_guid="bbcode" comment_id="5603" user="stephenw"}[quote:f4e5485d84] [size=10:f4e5485d84]by xing on Thursday 21 of July, 2005 [04:50:13] i'm not quite sure why you went the manual route rather than just downloading the freshbuild. appart from a working top menu, there are several bugfixes and other enhancements. if you really don't want to install the latest freshbuild, i can help you debug the menu. xing[/size:f4e5485d84] [/quote:f4e5485d84] Hi xing, I decided to follow you suggestion of just getting a fresh build. So I downloaded the new Bitweaver file, unpacked it, and then used Filezilla to upload the new files into my Bitweaver folder. In my niativity, I hoped all the files would be upgraded and I wouldn't have to reinstall. After uploading the files, I went to my website URL to see if the website was working. Instead of the website, the Bitweaver Installer came up. Now I guess that have to reinstall (seemingly from scratch). I have some questions [color=green:f4e5485d84](see green text below, and questions at the bottom)[/color:f4e5485d84] about what install option to use on the Database Upgrade page. But first, to tell you where I am at in reinstalling Bitweaver: As on my first installation of Bitweaver, when I come to the "bitweaver PHP Settings" it says, as it did the first time, that my system meets all the requirements. [list:f4e5485d84][*:f4e5485d84][i:f4e5485d84]Required settingsPHP version is greater than 4.1.0. Your installed version of PHP is 4.3.10. The configuration file 'config_inc.php' is available and the file is writeable. The directory 'storage' is available and it is writeable. The directory 'temp' is available and it is writeable. Your system meets all the requirements.[/i:f4e5485d84] [/list:u:f4e5485d84] [b:f4e5485d84][size=16:f4e5485d84]Database Upgrade Question[/size:f4e5485d84][/b:f4e5485d84] When I come to the "Database Upgrade" page, I don't know which option to choose. Should I choose this as a new install, or "upgrading" a database? [b:f4e5485d84][size=14:f4e5485d84]1. If I choose "Upgrading a Database", this is what I get?[/size:f4e5485d84][/b:f4e5485d84] When I click on the "upgrading database" and come to the bitweaver "Upgrade Tool", I click on "Begin the Upgrade Process" and am then on the "Databaser Connection Information" Page. At the top, under "Database Type" it has two warnings , [list:f4e5485d84][*:f4e5485d84]Top Warning says, " If you intend to upgrade an existing MySQL database, the required server version is greater than 4.1." [color=green:f4e5485d84](The drop down choice box only shows "MySQL 3.x.No other choice is available." However my server has "MySQL version 4.0.23-standard" on it. Why do I have this warning, and why can I not chose the MySQL version that my host supplies? I used this version of MySQL when I first installed BitWeaver.)[/color:f4e5485d84] [*:f4e5485d84]The Second Warning says "If the database you wish to use is not listed above, the version of PHP on this server does not have support for that database installed or compiled in."[/list:u:f4e5485d84] Should I just enter the MySQL login info from my previous install, into the form below, and then continue on? [b:f4e5485d84][size=14:f4e5485d84]2. If I choose "Continue Installation"[/size:f4e5485d84][/b:f4e5485d84] [i:f4e5485d84](Select this option if this is your first installation of bitweaver.)[/i:f4e5485d84] then on the "Databaser Connection Information" Page. At the top, under "Database Type" it has one warning ([i:f4e5485d84]the same as above[/i:f4e5485d84]); [list:f4e5485d84][*:f4e5485d84]" If you intend to upgrade an existing MySQL database, the required server version is greater than 4.1."[color=green:f4e5485d84] The drop down choice box only shows "MySQL 3.x.[/color:f4e5485d84] [i:f4e5485d84](No other choice is available.)[/i:f4e5485d84][/list:u:f4e5485d84] [b:f4e5485d84][size=16:f4e5485d84]I have some questions,[/size:f4e5485d84][/b:f4e5485d84] 1. Which of the above Database options do I choose, "first install" or "upgrade database?" [color=green:f4e5485d84]2. What do I do about my only choice in the box is MySQL3.x? I used MySQL during my last install, and it doesn't show as a choice this time. 3. How do I connect the new install of Bitweaver to the existing MySQL database? [/color:f4e5485d84] 4. In the future, whenever I "get a new build" as you suggested, do I go through this reinstalling process with each new build, or is there some other process that I don't know about? [i:f4e5485d84](Just for your your info, my host supplies CPanel as the control panel for my website.)[/i:f4e5485d84] Thanks for your help, Stephen{/quote}
