{quote format_guid="bbcode" comment_id="7494" user="arnaudherve"}This might be my main contribution to bw development. 1) My main intuition is that, whenever you have a list of same nature data, it is better to place them in a wiki page than to create a rigid "package" for them, with rigid templates. The best example maybe is the list of links, the plain wiki page allowing a longer comment if you wish, an image for one of the links only... 2) the success of many popular software lies, not only in their own excellence, but also in their capacity to allow plugins for very special needs. I imagine some mathematicians might want to insert a particular type of formulas, or some music professors might want to compell their students to write a certain type of notation, or some zoology units might want to compell their field researchers to fill a "temperature field", and so on. 3) it has become a vice in Tikiwiki development, to continuously add such features outside of the wiki, thus compelling navigation from the wiki and back as the main page. Adding features is nice, but they should be wrapped somewhere. Anything that is not publication time related can fit in the wiki. Hence there should be a way, not to develop such niche features ourselves, but on the contrary to invite such people who understand their own job better than we do, to quickly write with reasonable ease such features meant to be inserted in the wiki, which would become like sub-packages, installable in their own right. The other way round, this would allow the generalist programmers here to concentrate on the main structure, and containers suitable for any kind of data.{/quote}
